History
Originating on the continent of Africa, basenji-like dogs are depicted in drawings and models dating back to the Twelfth Dynasty of Egypt. Dogs of this type were originally kept for hunting small game by tracking and driving the game into nets.
Care and Health
We cannot overemphasize the importance of a proper diet and exercise routine. She has low grooming needs and is known for her lack of "doggie odor." Brush her coat as needed, at least weekly. Basenjis generally have good teeth, and you can keep them perfect by brushing them at least twice a week!
Fun Fact
The breed produces an unusual yodel-like sound, due to its unusually shaped larynx.[1] This trait also gives the Basenji the nickname barkless dog

Attributes
This breed is alert, energetic, curious and reserved with strangers. It tends to become emotionally attached to a single human. Basenjis may not get along with non-canine pets. They dislike wet weather, much like cats, and will often refuse to go outside in any sort of damp conditions. They like to climb, and can easily scale chain wire/link fences
