Care and Health
Grooming needs Given its size the long coat especially can take some time to brush through it all. It does shed a heavy amount so there will be a lot of hair around the home to be dealt with. Bathing a dog of this size is not an easy task so leave to times when it really needs one. They are mostly considered to be a healthy breed, but like many giant breeds, they can be prone to hip dysplasia. They may also develop cataracts. One of the most common problems they face is obesity.
Unlike most working breeds which generally get along with others of their own kind, Caucasian Ovcharkas are often housed alone because they tend to dislike the company of other dogs, even fellow Caucasian Ovcharkas, so intensely.
