History
The English Setter appeared in England more than 400 years ago. It is believed to be a cross of Spanish Pointer, large Water Spaniel, and Springer Spaniel breeds.
Care and Health
Very healthy breed with little health concerns. "Feathery" coat requires some maintenance.
Fun Fact
In the early 17th century, it was illegal for any common man to own an English Setter, as this dog was reserved for royalty.
